Arrow Energy is an integrated coal seam gas (CSG) consortium, committed to delivering liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the international market through a world-class plant in Queensland, Australia. They’ve been safely and sustainably developing CSG since 2000, supplying it commercially from the Bowen Basin since 2004 and from the Surat Basin since 2006. Arrow Energy are committed to innovation and change and continually seeking ways to improve the safety, delivery costs, quality, efficiency and teamwork across their business.
The company acknowledged that its existing approach to information did not adequately support the most effective and efficient performance of key business processes. To overcome this, Arrow Energy engaged data and information experts GWI to provide project assurance capability for the delivery of risk and quality management for the successful delivery of document migration.
Consistent and quality information assurance
GWI’s approach was based upon its assessment that consistent, quality and accurate information across the organisation would significantly improve the client’s operations. In particular, Arrow needed to address outcomes relating to a shareholders’ compliance audit to achieve the Final Investment Decision. We also recognised that a key issue for energy and resources companies is maintaining a license to operate – requiring the effective management of documentation and other information content. To ensure Arrow Energy maintained full compliance, GWI developed and administered an information quality management process with key outcomes in mind.
Working collaboratively with other consulting service providers, GWI designed a flexible document migration schedule and provided change and information management advice to support the client through the transformation. We also collaborated with key stakeholders, including senior executives, to determine change readiness and planning change, and went on to assess information quality outcomes to ensure project alignment to business expectations.
Providing information to the right people at the right time.
The document migration project, together with the IM policy framework produced by GWI, have enabled the client to realise several business benefits. These included access to authoritative information sources, reduced rework, more effective employee collaboration and a reduction of costs relating to information duplication, silos and poor discoverability.
These benefits are expected to enable vital business outcomes, including process efficiency, reduced costs, risk mitigation and effectiveness throughout the CSG/LNG value chain. Importantly, the work GWI completed for Arrow Energy will enable them to ensure information is delivered to the right people at the right time.
